Do I really need FSSAI for a small homestay?+
If you serve any food or beverage to guests — even complimentary breakfast or chai — yes. Basic Registration covers turnover up to ₹12 lakh/year, so for most homestays it's affordable and quick. The risk of operating without it: ₹2-5 lakh fine if FSSAI inspects.
How much are the actual government fees?+
Basic Registration: ₹100/year. State License: ₹2,000-5,000/year depending on category. Central License: ₹7,500/year. You pay the validity period upfront (1-5 years). My professional fee is separate and listed above.
Can you help with renewal?+
